Sculptural Archive: From Cut & Fold Collection to the Curved Slashed Clutch

First developed in 2011, LINDASIETO’s Cut and Fold collection marked the studio’s earliest explorations of leather as a sculptural surface. Slashed openings, folded constructions and negative space became a way to shape the material around the body, creating objects with an avant-garde, sculptural presence that could be held, worn and moved with.
The early curved clutch designs used repeated slashes and arched openings to create different visual rhythms across the leather surface and the human skin visible underneath. These gestures were not decorative additions, but part of the construction itself: the cuts shaped the way the clutch opened, folded and interacted with the hand.
The early development process also involved photographing the pieces through reflection and repeated framing.

Archive variations in patent leather, metallic finishes and cobalt blue suede show how the Cut and Fold language moved across materials, colours and product forms, from clutch to sandal.

The contemporary Curved Slashed Clutch carries this language into a quieter, more refined form. Its curved openings and folded leather body trace back to the original 2011 experiments, while distilling them into a minimal sculptural silhouette and colourways made for contemporary occasion wear.
Re-designed for the 2016 Soft Edge collection, this clutch was featured on Design Milk, one of the leading international platforms for contemporary design, describing the styles as: “Luxurious leather bags… supple, high quality leather and intriguing shapes.”

More than a decade later, the design remains part of LINDASIETO’s signature leather vocabulary: a study in instinctive gesture, negative space and on the relation of the object to the wearer's body.

Today, each Curved Slashed Clutch is made in the Budapest studio from premium Italian leather. The construction relies on precise construction, hand-cutting and on the hand-finishing of all edges, allowing the curved slashes to become both a visual rhythm and a functional opening.
The result is a sculptural object, refined, wearable and rooted in a timeless yet striking, presence driven aesthetic.
